Tom Murray grew up in Toronto’s East End and began performing music in GTA clubs as a teen. Tom has played all across the GTA as well as Southern and Northern Ontario. Tom has performed in clubs, on stages and festivals as well as at private and corporate events.
For many years Tom was also a guitar teacher in Scarborough and for the East York Board of Education.
Whether ripping it up on Santana and Steely Dan songs, or holding the groove in Motown, Tom has every conceivable guitar style over the years, and gets to use it all with SideFx band!
Tom has also done studio work with a variety of musicians over the years, as well as writing his own original work.
Mark Coombes originally from England, grew up in Whitby, Ontario. Discovering his love of timing and beats, he took up drumming early. After High School he went on tour for a year and a half with a Metal band across Ontario and Quebec. Returning home to follow his other passion for systems design, he found time to join a number of bands both Original and Cover styles.
In recent years, Mark has been the solid beat behind an award winning Elvis Tribute, and a flurry of activity in a Progressive rock band, and a reliable beat for several other GTA cover bands. Currently he is behind the kit, giving an accurate recreation of the cover materials played by the Side FX band.
In his spare time these days, Mark quietly composes in his home midi studio, recently completing an original orchestral score for a Video Game, and a library of other musical sketches.
Wayne Loach grew up singing and playing at the very young age of 7. Growing up in a musical family, his mother, an accomplished pianist and organist, was a great inspiration to him. He would sing along playing piano to old songs.
Growing up with the Beatles, and Beach Boys, with their great harmonies, he would mimic their voices and sounds, and friends would tell him he had a great voice. At the age of 13, he formed a pop band ,where they played some Beatles, Monkees, and Motown tunes while emulating the moves of James Brown on stage.
Other interests filled up his time growing up, and it wasn’t until later in his life that he once again thought of singing in a classic rock band. Answering an add in a paper for a vocalist, he auditioned among 10 others and was chosen. For the last 7 years he has been the vocalist for the SideFX band.
His musical tastes range from Beatles, Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, to Van Morrison, James Brown, Four Tops, Sam and Dave, and even some Disco. It’s said that he still has “ Moves Like Jagger”
Dave Sorensen was born and raised in Montreal, where he began playing guitar at an early age.
He played lead guitar in several bands before moving to Brampton, and now enjoys holding down the groove on bass with SideFX Band — especially when it comes to funky Motown and R&B tunes.
Over the years, Dave has performed on both guitar and bass with numerous gigging bands across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including at clubs, festivals, and private events.
During the COVID lockdowns, he also collaborated with WorldJam musicians from Europe and the UK, creating music videos on YouTube.
Tom Peeble is the dynamic keyboardist for the rock band Sidefx. Whenever he is not preoccupied playing harpsichord with a local chamber music group, his passion for analog synths brings a rich melodic layer to the band’s guitar and saxophone-driven sound.
Joining the group in 2023, his signature Hammond organ riffs and atmospheric keyboard textures have become a defining element of the band’s evolving style. Influenced by legends like Jon Lord and Ray Manzarek, Tom fuses vintage tones with modern effects to create a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh.
Marco Marrone grew up in Toronto and holds a music degree from York University, along with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.
He taught high school music for 35 years with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, inspiring generations of young musicians.
As a soulful saxophone player, Marco has performed — and continues to perform — with numerous musical ensembles throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
In addition to live performance, he’s an accomplished electronic musician and composer, skilled in MIDI and digital applications, and has scored original music for short films and live productions.
